What is community engagement?
Community Engagement is the process of building relationships with community members who work side-by-side as an ongoing partner. Community members help support our mission, and these relationships develop with the end goal of making the community a better place to live. Community engagement includes informing, consulting, involving, empowering and collaborating with the community.
Why is it important to us?
Community Engagement activities are designed to foster relationships with community by developing channels of communication and collaboration. The intention is to create the possibility of a better future by sharing accountability and committing to the good of the whole. The underlying intent of Community Engagement is to shift from speaking about what others should do, to speaking about what we, as a community, can create.
The Community Engagement Center (CEC) is the “center of gravity” for community engagement activities. The CEC ensures that the school as a whole can cultivate authentic community engagement.
Who do we define as community?
