Student Leadership
At Health Leadership High School, leadership isn’t just a title, it’s a way of life.
We believe that every student has the potential to lead, and we are committed to providing a wide range of opportunities that empower our young people to find their voice, pursue their passions, and make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.
From the moment students step through our doors, they are immersed in a culture that celebrates initiative, collaboration, and service. Whether through athletics that promote teamwork and discipline or nationally recognized organizations like DECA and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), our students are developing real-world leadership skills that prepare them for success in college, career, and life.
We are proud to offer a diverse portfolio of leadership pathways, including prestigious academic opportunities like our Johns Hopkins program, as well as industry-aligned programs such as Cosmetology and Barbering, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training, and the EMT First Responder Program. Our Community Health Worker and Dreammakers programs help students explore the intersections of healthcare, advocacy, and equity, while also gaining valuable certifications that open doors to future careers.
Through FACES for the Future, Dual Credit courses, and Paid Internships, students gain hands-on experience in the health sector while building a strong academic foundation. Project Insight and our partnership with Vitalant for regular Blood Drives reflect our belief in service-based leadership, where students learn to lead through compassion and community engagement.
Student leadership also includes civic and cultural involvement through the Equity Council, Community School Council, Teen Mental Health First Aid, and Latinos in Action, where students learn the value of advocacy, mental health awareness, and cultural pride. These platforms allow students to directly influence school policy, support their peers, and build a more inclusive environment for everyone.
This is just the beginning. Our students are constantly innovating, organizing, and stepping up. Leadership at our school is not a program, it is a mindset, and it’s woven into everything we do. With so many options to lead, grow, and shine, our students are not only preparing for the future, they are shaping it.
