HLHS allowed her to work during the day and finish school at night – all with a supportive faculty of staff and teachers rooting for her success. Maria's
Story
Slide I want to be either a nurse, a cook, a firefighter, or a coroner. For the nursing, I got inspired because my mom works at the hospital. I just like helping out people. When I was little I always saw my grandma in the hospital a lot. So I saw someone help her out, I want to do the same. I’m always helping out people, no matter what.. Angel

Slide I want to be a family doctor. And if I’m not that, I want to be a lawyer or a cop. I feel like I want to be involved. Maybe in government.

We did everything together as a group. I was kind of working on everything. I like to be a leader, I work better when I’m guiding people to do things themselves.
